babies and traveling oh my!

I thought I'd give everyone an update on how Bryo and I are doing. Still no morning sickness and at week 10, I'm told if it didn't come by now, it's just not going to happen. Darn! The first couple weeks were met with pain from my swollen ovalries and what I think was maybe heartburn?! I dunno. Then of course I was tired and still am most of the the afternoon. Other than not being able to look at or eat meat for a few weeks, no real nausea to speak of. (Sorry, please don't throw stones at me! I am pregnant!) Mamaw Yates says she never had nausea either and it's in my genes. I think it might also have something to do with my body not wanting to produce it's own progesterone and thankfully, those shots will be over in 2-3 more weeks! WOOHOO! I will say watermelon has been my best friend. The last week or so I've been eating half a watermelon a day. YUM! I wish there was a way to feeze them.

Bryo and I are gearing up for a few adventures with my dad. He'll be here from July 7-14. We may head to Prague and Austria, but for the most part I think we'll stay in Germany. I'm working on a visit to a bee keeper for him. For those that don't know, my dad has recently (several years) taken up bee keeping. He even packages and sells his own honey! Brookneal Bees are the BEST! ohh I may have just come up with a new slogan for him.

Oh and I'm super excited to be heading to Izmir and Istanbul, Turkey in August with my good friend Laurie Graham. Laurie starts her masters program at Yale this summer and her new roomate happens to own a house in Izmir. So we'll be there a week and on our way back home we have a long (27 hour) layover in Istanbul. I'm sooo exited.

And on a final note. My cousin Rob and his wife Claudia welcomed Kimberly Marie Barker into the world on Monday, June 22nd at 7:04 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 12 oz and 19 and 1/2 inches long. I'm on my work computer, so I can't post photos, maybe when I get home tonight I'll work on that!

Happy Father's Day!

I know I know I'm a bit late. What can I say? I was born late and it's been down hill ever since. I did talk to my Dad, Papaw and uncle Owen yesterday on the phone! I also got to talk to Brian on his first Father's Day! I finally convinced the girls to let me sleep in and he woke me up around 10:30. It was great to hear from him and he seems to be doing well. He said once they got into Iraq he would be able to load and send photos much easier.

I spent the afternoon watching "Night at the Museum II" with my friends Amanda and Amie and Amie's three boys, Hunter, Matthew and Norman.

The weather hasn been pretty BLAH here the last few days. It seems like it never gets out of the 50s or loooow 60s. It's summer!! Geeez!

Goooooood Morning Mom!

Since Brian isn't around to walk the dogs when he goes in for PT they just love waking me up at 6:30-7 every morning. Even Saturdays. Don't they realize I only have 7 more months to sleep and then I'll be awake for the rest of my life? No fair! LOLdogs say it best!

only 364-ish more to go.

I had a pretty average day. I got home from dropping Brian off at 4am. Fell asleep around 5 and got up around 11 to head into work (they knew I'd be in at 1 today). Normal blah day at work, but my 2 co-workers in the Illesheim office are fantastic and funny and cheered me up all day long!

Anywho, got home, let the girls out, got some dinner, checked my email...all very normal things. Around 8-8:30 every night Brian and I take the girls for a walk either to Neudorf and back (the next town over - the long loop) or the short loop around our neighborhood. Well when Ginger came and laid her head on my knee at 7:45 I think she knew he wasn't coming home and wanted to go for a walk. We got ready and headed out - now here's where I have to back up and make a note - we always leave a key under our mat, always. Let's just say that some...ok most of the time I forget to put it back under the mat and Brian yells at me. But anywho, last night when I got home at 4am, I wasn't thinking and didn't put it back. Fast forward again, so I put collars and leashes on the girls and we head out. As soon as I shut the door I knew. I forgot to unlock it and low and behold there was no key under the mat. Let's just say I've locked myself out of this house on a few occasions and leave it at that. Thankfully I had left the porch door open. Ginger likes to sit on the porch at night so I just leave the door open and she comes and goes as she pleases. I thought to myself, well we might as well get our walk over with and then I'll worry about getting back into the house. We did the short loop, I was feeling lazy and headed home. Got the black trash can out, rolled it around to the side of our house, behind the big tree, beside the porch and climbed up the side of our house onto the porch - no easy task - considering when I'm standing on the trash can the porch is still above my shoulders. I kept wondering how in the world I did this in the past and was I wearing flip flops that time too?! Whew.

As Brian is reading this, he's either rolling on the floor laughing or shaking his head at me. He hasn't even been gone 24 hours and I've already locked myself out of the house.

M. Bryo Smit

We had another doctor's appointment on Monday! Woohoo! Bryo's heartbeat: check, Bryo's spine: check, Bryo's head, stomach and a little arm: check check and check!

Monday was our 4th ultrasound, and it looks like we're at 8 weeks today. I thought I was a little closer to 9 weeks, so I was off by about a week. So it looks like we could have a little Aquarius on our hands rather than a Capricorn. We'll just have to wait and see!
Dr. Schwartz estimates little Bryo to be here on or about Jan. 21, 2010.

I got another very painful progesterone shot. Woohoo only 5 more to go! Still no real nausea, just tired. Lucky for me I have a couch in my office and a wonderful boss who lets me nap at work. I go back in 4 weeks for my blood work, another ultrasound and maybe to hear a heartbeat. Ohhh I love the Germans!! If it were up to me, I'd be birthing all my kids here!

Other possible names for Bryo:

Cork
Boyce
Tagg Euritt (say it fast!)
