October 2012

It's official. We're staying in Germany until at least October of 2012. Most likely we'll get stop moved by the next deployment, which means we'll be here until sometime in 2013. We've also decided to move...again. So we're looking for a new house. Wish us luck!

Today was sunny and somewhat warm. If you were in the sunshine, it was warm. If you weren't, it was chilly. I had to run to Post and to see a friend who had a baby, and my car said 47* as a high.

The commissary was out of organic milk...so we went German (Bio means organic, and the 3,8 is the content of fat or 'fett' - which is closer to whole milk then say the 1.5)






We took the dogs up to the field to run. Of course this was around 2 so the sun was high and it was BRIGHT! yucky shadows.

Yes. It was 67* today per my car. I'll take it! It was amazing. I wore flip flops all day. We ran errands and played in the yard. Later in the evening when I took these photos, it was getting a bit windy.

Anna tries to throw the tennis ball for the dogs, but it doesn't go very far. Then she wonders why they don't get excited and fetch for her.

Back up and running...again

I'm back online...well with my computer. My charger came last week and works like a charm. Like 4th time's a charm.

The weather has been pretty fantastic here this week...and last week too. Mother Nature's birthday gift to me. We've been spending lots of time outside with Kyla and Ginger. Anna has trouble walking on our hill. There has been lots of falling. I got our strawberries a few flowers planted over the weekend. Things in our yard are starting to bloom! I went to clip my roses last week and they already had buds on them. I still have lots of clipping to do. Over the weekend I took out some ivy. A lot of ivy, but only maybe 5% of the ivy in our entire yard. Whoever planted that ivy should be shot...then hung. I'm serious. No mercy.


Anna update:
She now signs: more, baby, all finished, milk and eat. She is speaking: mom, dad, no, yes, and dog. She has said 'more' once, but it hasn't been a repeat sound.

Her favorite foods: corn, peas, carrots, grapes, yogurt, raisins, clementines, bananas, oatmeal (steel cut oats only - I tried rolled and she took two bites), apples, pears, blueberries, strawberries, black olives, wheat ritz, cheese, pasta, pork, steak, chicken. Of course she eats just about anything. She's an all day snacker like I am, but is also very good about her meals. She has a banana (sometimes 2) when we first get up. Then somewhere around 9 we split a bowl of oatmeal or pancakes (now waffles too), but mostly oatmeal and Anna eats 90% of it. Then it's down for morning nap until about 11:30. We have lunch at noon on the dot. Lots of playing, running outside, torturing dogs, walking, or coloring. Nap time again at 3ish and a snack around 4:30-5ish. I'm amazed that 1. she takes a great afternoon nap, gets up sometimes as late as 5-5:30 and has no problem going back to bed at 7pm and 2. has a snack after nap then eats a big dinner. Throughout the day, she snacks on whatever she can find. Usually there are clementines, crackers, and raisins in her backpack and she knows it!

I'm really looking forward to eating more veggies this summer!!!

It's been very nice to spend the last few weeks outside! Ginger has been out all day most days. Kyla of course stays close.

Food ends up on the floor. So it might as well start out on the floor.


I was feeding her pasta one night for dinner and she got tired of waiting for me to give her the next noodle. I let her dig in and work on her fork skills

t-minus about an hour until Brian comes home and I *should* be finishing up laundry and cooking dinner like a good wife. But I'm blogging, I know all of you (three) are happy about that.

Anna found a cheap bead necklace and LOOOOOOVES it. She was trying to wear these two super long black beaded necklaces that I have and I took those away, she was stepping on and tripping over them left and right. Today I was wearing my owl necklace that my sister, Jenni gave me and she took that too.

She LOVES her chair. She flips on it (she's only hit her head once on the tv stand), stands on it, lays on it. I would have liked to have gotten her a bigger one, maybe if she continues to love it so much, we'll get another one down the road.

I picked out the fabric for Anna's baby room 2 years before she was even conceived. Yes, 2 years. I came across it searching for fabric and fell in LOVE! Alexander Henry's Animals in Primary! I love this fabric. I made her a curtain, 2 pillow, a bed skirt and one of these days I'll make her a quilt...really I will. I promise! I AM!


Several things got me to thinking about the next step for Anna. Now mind you - we're MONTHS maybe years from really NEEDING this room. One: my friend Shannon and her 6 month old Leyton are coming to visit at the end of March. (Now you must be thinking - you already have a guest room! and we do, but it's in our super cold basement now. I turned our old guest room into a closet for Anna and me.) Two: I want to make Anna a growth chart, but I don't want it to match her baby room, I'd like it to match her big girl room. So these two things really got me thinking about what's next. Owls and birds are very popular...we also seem to have a lot of frog things...the storage unit behind Anna's door in her room, her new chairs, and her new stool covers, are all frog themed. My sister must be LOVING this.

SO there you have it ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to give up half my closet space to a twin bed and a dresser. (The dresser is already in there) Before you start thinking I'm a horrible friend for making Shannon sleep in a closet, it is the same size as Anna's room. It's not huge, but big enough.
