Maybe German Mother Nature doesn't speak very much English and isn't getting the message. I'm not really sure, but 90s were predicted last Friday, but we woke up to of course, rain. I've worn a winter coat most of the summer. Seriously.
Sorry I haven't been blogging. Not much to say I guess. The last week or so has been a lot of sloooowly packing boxes and cleaning the house. The girls and I spent a little bit of time outside between rain showers, but just a few visits to our favorite fields. It's almost impossible to go on a walk these days without getting caught in a downpour so I've been driving them out to some farmers fields to let them run. Then when it starts raining, we jump in and car and head for home. I don't know if Ginger is just having a bad week, if she's missing Brian, my dad or what, but she is one unhappy camper. It will be nice when we move and she can stay outside 24/7 if she wishes. If that doesn't work, maybe I'll ship her to Brian.

Date change. Again.
Disclaimer: We obviously don't know the sex of the baby yet, I just call it a him or he.
Well we're back to Jan 16-17th as a due date. On monday I had a normal ultrasound and Dr. Neudeck told me I was closer to 13 weeks, so she set me up with my first trimester 13 week ultrasound with Dr. Bauman. Well today I had that ultrasound. It was was nice seeing Bryo twice in one week. Monday I saw him kick his little legs and move his arms. Today I saw him move his mouth and counted some fingers! Dr. Bauman measured his femur, nose bone, lungs, head (and brain), and checked out his heart. All healthy and good to go! He had a heartbeat of 158 and I got to hear it as well. My friend Victoria video taped parts of the ultrasound for Brian but the videos are too large to put online. I'm going to end up mailing him a CD. :(

Looooong weekends.
Uncle Sam was nice enough to give me the day off on Friday, Thank You taxpayers! ;) So I decided to spend it mowing grass and cleaning my house. Of course now it takes me a solid 4 hours to mow and rake our little yard. I'd mow a little, stop, rest, drink water, mow, stop, rest, drink, mow, sit, rest. You get the point.
Saturday was more of the same, the girls and I took not one but two adventures to one of our favorite fields. The first time was pretty hot, but the girls got to chase a deer for a bit and I ate some cherries off a cherry tree I found. They were AMAZING. The second time, it started thundering shortly after we got there and Kyla of course wants nothing to do with weather. Rain, the thought of rain, thunder, snow, anything, she's not a happy camper. So she jumped back in the BMW Bo Duke style. Ginger and I hung out in the field a little longer and finally headed back home. I skipped out on the fireworks, it started pouring down rain about the time I was going to leave, so I just decided to stay home and hang out with the dogs.
Today was again, more of the same. Sometimes it just feels good to stay home and do a lot of nothing....well and a little cleaning. We did head into town to get some dog food with another stop at a field. No thunder today, but Kyla was doing her best to work the kinks out of her Dukes of Hazard routine. It was really hot, neither of them really wanted to run, so we headed home and later took a 1.5 hour walk to Neudorf and back (about 2.5 miles with our extra loop). It takes a long time when you have to stop and sniff every single flower and snail along the way.
Just call me Bo Duke from now on Mom!

bad bad blogger.
This past week has flown by. I have completely forgotten to blog altogether and honestly nothing too exciting has happened. I went to see Craig Ferguson from the LATE LATE show last night with some girlfriends. He was pretty funny and it was free...why not?! Had dinner with my friend Elena tonight at her house and well other than that, I've been cleaning in preparation for my dad's visit next week and trying to get packed. I thought I was done moving my own stuff!!
Bryo seems to be doing fine I guess, I can't feel anything, but I keep getting bigger, so I guess he is too...or maybe it's because I eat 24/7. I go for my next ultrasound on Monday, the 6th of July.

babies and traveling oh my!
I thought I'd give everyone an update on how Bryo and I are doing. Still no morning sickness and at week 10, I'm told if it didn't come by now, it's just not going to happen. Darn! The first couple weeks were met with pain from my swollen ovalries and what I think was maybe heartburn?! I dunno. Then of course I was tired and still am most of the the afternoon. Other than not being able to look at or eat meat for a few weeks, no real nausea to speak of. (Sorry, please don't throw stones at me! I am pregnant!) Mamaw Yates says she never had nausea either and it's in my genes. I think it might also have something to do with my body not wanting to produce it's own progesterone and thankfully, those shots will be over in 2-3 more weeks! WOOHOO! I will say watermelon has been my best friend. The last week or so I've been eating half a watermelon a day. YUM! I wish there was a way to feeze them.
Bryo and I are gearing up for a few adventures with my dad. He'll be here from July 7-14. We may head to Prague and Austria, but for the most part I think we'll stay in Germany. I'm working on a visit to a bee keeper for him. For those that don't know, my dad has recently (several years) taken up bee keeping. He even packages and sells his own honey! Brookneal Bees are the BEST! ohh I may have just come up with a new slogan for him.
Oh and I'm super excited to be heading to Izmir and Istanbul, Turkey in August with my good friend Laurie Graham. Laurie starts her masters program at Yale this summer and her new roomate happens to own a house in Izmir. So we'll be there a week and on our way back home we have a long (27 hour) layover in Istanbul. I'm sooo exited.
And on a final note. My cousin Rob and his wife Claudia welcomed Kimberly Marie Barker into the world on Monday, June 22nd at 7:04 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 12 oz and 19 and 1/2 inches long. I'm on my work computer, so I can't post photos, maybe when I get home tonight I'll work on that!
